Assisted Stretching

What is assisted stretching?

Assisted stretching is a recovery technique that involves moving one’s body through a series of stretches through a guided range of motion that is difficult for one to perform alone. The goal is to increase mobility, flexibility, and range of motion of joints and specific muscles/ muscle groups.

How is assisted stretching beneficial, and for whom?

Assisted Stretching using PNF contraction and relaxation technique- PNF stands for proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, which means contracting and relaxing. The contraction-relaxation technique aims to increase or improve the range of motion, strength, and flexibility by increasing muscle length and neuromuscular facilitation. Assisted stretching benefits everyone- especially those who lead an active lifestyle, are in a fixed position at work for long periods, or are athletes hoping to prevent or heal from injury.

 

Assisted stretching keeps the muscles strong and flexible, making it easier to get through our day-to-day lives. Lack of mobility and flexibility causes shortened and tightened muscles, making it more difficult for the muscles to react efficiently, leading to injury.

Biography: About Kaity

Kaity's journey into fitness began with her active involvement in various sports, from volleyball to soccer to cross-country. This personal connection to sports fuels her coaching practices, as she snowboards all winter and skateboards all summer. Her deep-rooted passion for health and fitness led her to become a personal trainer in 2021. Having recently moved to Reno from Las Vegas, she is furthering her education in Exercise Science to become a certified Athletic Trainer. Kaity's professional qualifications include current certifications from NASM and ISSA for personal training, strength and conditioning, group coaching, assisted stretching, and nutrition coaching.
